Support in a shared home
SIL can be delivered in a shared home where people have their own private space and share some supports and household routines.
Supported Independent Living, or SIL, is designed to help people live more independently while receiving the assistance they need with everyday life, personal care, routines and building their confidence.
Talk to us about SILSIL provides help or supervision for people with substantial disability-related needs who require support throughout the day and overnight. It supports everyday independence through an agreed arrangement shaped around the person’s assessed needs and NDIS plan.

SIL is funding for support rather than a property. It may be delivered where you already live when approved and suitable. SIL is usually shared with housemates; other home and living options may be more suitable for people living alone.
Support may include personal care, meal preparation, household routines, supervision, medication assistance and developing everyday living skills.
SIL funds disability-related assistance and supervision. It does not pay for rent, groceries or utilities. Regular community participation is generally funded separately from SIL; the same support time cannot be claimed twice.
Read the NDIA SIL guidanceSIL funding and the type of support available depend on your individual NDIS plan, assessed needs and goals. We can help you understand whether Nivada Care may be a suitable provider to discuss with your support coordinator or planner.
Our goal is to create a safe, respectful and welcoming home where people can build skills, maintain choice and feel supported in their everyday lives.
Support will be shaped around each person’s routines, communication, preferences and goals.
Our Registered Nurse-led team can help coordinate health needs, care plans and staff training where required.
